Guarana is a plant found predominantly in the Amazon, the berry is what holds extract that is high in caffeine content. It can be found in such exotic locals such as Venezuela and Brazil as well. Guarana can indeed have many benefits. Sometimes with these benefits there comes side effects. Guarana extract can be found in many products from soft drinks, chocolate bars and chewing gum, to powder, syrup and capsules. These products are well known in the Brazilian marketplace, outside of which, you will find them across the United States including Health Food Stores. Most popular among these would be energy drinks. Research has shown that the Guarana is chemically identical to caffeine. The seeds have seven percent more caffeine on average than the coffee bean itself.
Guarana is often used to aid in weight loss and lack of energy. Two of the major problem areas we face in this rat race we call life. Obesity due to our diets and a lack of energy due to being overworked. But it can also be used for detoxifying the blood, reducing intestinal gas, dyspepsia, arteriosclerosis, neuralgia, diarrhea, dysentery, migraine relief, rheumatism, and cellulite reduction, just to name a few. To me personally, this is quite impressive. I have done research on this product and am pleased with what I have found so far. My first reason for use would be for weight loss but then I found out it can help other issues I have.
First of all detoxifying the blood. Well that would be a good thing for everyone. Detoxifying the body once or twice a year is a great idea in general, but up until my research i was unaware Guarana was able to do this. I have suffered from migraines for years and seeing this may help in that regard, I am willing to try. If you suffer from migraines you would understand why I am so willing to try this product for that reason alone. Then there is arthritis, and what the dreaded side effect of obesity: cellulite.
But of course, not every thing is completely good for you, including Guarana. Which is somewhat of a disappointment, I have to say. It states that it can cause insomnia. Like I need to add THAT to what I already have. Trembling, anxiety, palpitations, urinary frequencies and hyperactivity. Come to think of it, I did try the five hour energy drink, so the hyperactivity I can totally agree with as I felt like you would have to peel me off the ceiling at one point. But the effect would really be based upon how much caffeine you are used to having.
I do not need any help for my hyperactivity, and my family will definitely agree with me on that. I must say though, that these side effects will not prevent me from purchasing any products containing Guarana.
